Have You Suffered From Eye Damage After Taking The Drug Elmiron?

You may be entitled to significant compensation.

The litigation attorneys in our nationwide network are reviewing claims on behalf of patients with interstitial cystitis (IC) who took the prescription medication Elmiron and now may be suffering from a severe form of an eye disease called maculopathy as a result. Elmiron has been prescribed to millions of patients since 1996 to treat Interstitial Cystitis (IC), often known as Painful Bladder Syndrome.

But now, there is reason to think this drug could cause severe eye conditions for those taking it, leading to blindness. This condition is a form of maculopathy — degeneration of the macula, the retina’s central portion. The first symptoms of maculopathy are blurred vision, black spots, difficulty focusing, and other difficulties: It can cause complete blindness as it progresses.

As evidence has mounted, the maker of Elmiron — Janssen Pharmaceuticals — has failed to warn the public of these risks. As a result, millions are taking a drug that could destroy their eyesight, and untold numbers could already have severe health conditions.

Lawsuits have already begun on behalf of those injured. If you or a loved one took Elmiron and has since been diagnosed with macular disease, you could be entitled to compensation. Call today for your case to be reviewed at no cost. Our toll-free helpline is (866) 240-2414.

Elmiron is a prescription drug written millions of patients since 1996 for treating interstitial cystitis (IC), also known as Painful Bladder Syndrome. But in 2015, researchers began detecting a potential link between the drug and a serious eye condition called maculopathy. But even as evidence has mounted, Elmiron maker Janssen Pharmaceutical has failed to warn the public of those risks. IC patients are usually prescribed 300 milligrams a day of the drug, but in more severe cases, doctors have prescribed 800 milligrams and even 1,500. As a result, millions are taking medication that could destroy their eyesight, and untold numbers could have severely damaged their health.

You may be entitled to compensation if you or a loved one took Elmiron and was later diagnosed with macular degeneration. Call today for your case to be reviewed at no cost.

Hidden danger: Elmiron’s potential risks were unknown until 2015 when doctors at the Emory Eye Center in Atlanta encountered a form of eye disease that had never been seen before in six women. This form of macular dystrophy did not appear to have a single cause. Further investigations revealed that all six women had been taking Elmiron for years.

Additional studies published in 2018 and 2019 have confirmed a link between Elmiron and this eye condition. How exactly Elmiron causes, the situation still needs to be discovered. Despite all evidence, eye diseases are not listed by manufacturers yet as possible side effects. Therefore, there is no telling how many people have suffered severe damage to their eyes because they used Elmiron, and hundreds of thousands are still at risk.

You may be eligible for compensation for your medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost pay, and other damages if you or someone you know took Elmiron and was later diagnosed with macular disease. The Law May Limit The Time You Have To File A Claim

Under the legal rule known as “the statute of limitations,” any claim stemming from an eye injury after taking Elmiron must be filed within a specific period of time, otherwise, the injured persons’ legal claims are barred, and their right to bring suit is lost for all time.
